Alvaro Betancourt
Alvaro Betancourt joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2017. Prior to joining D&M, Betancourt worked for Tecpetrol in both Argentina and Ecuador.
Betancourt earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador in 2012 and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in 2017. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Major Projects
Betancourt has performed reserves and resources evaluations following SEC and PRMS guidelines in various conventional and unconventional fields in North America. His areas of expertise encompass the west coast, Alaska, and southeastern United States, where he currently evaluates oil and gas properties for reserves estimation, production forecasts, and economic analysis. Several of these projects are secondary oil recovery operations (waterfloods and steamfloods) and tertiary carbon dioxide-enhanced oil recovery.
He is proficient with economic evaluation software, particularly Aries and PHDWin, and has performed modeling and assessments of project economics.
