Business Development Advisor, Senior Engineer
Nuno M. Rosa joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2018 as a business development advisor. With nearly 26 years in the oil and gas industry, Rosa has significant experience in Angola and West Africa, having worked for more than 15 years for Sonangol E.P., the national concessionaire and former regulator in Angola, and nearly 5 years seconded to Chevron.
Rosa earned a bachelor’s degree in math and geographical engineering from Universidade Agostinho Neto (UAN), Angola. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from the American Intercontinental University. He obtained a General Business Management Certificate and an International Petroleum Management Certificate from the University of Texas at Austin, an Energy Risk Management Certificate from the University of Houston, a Project Management Certificate from Villanova University, and received total immersion reservoir engineer training from OGCI in Houston. Rosa is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE-Angola) and the Society for Conservation GIS (SCGIS). He is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

Major Projects
Since his arrival at D&M, Rosa has led the firm’s efforts to develop reserves and resources evaluation projects, reservoir studies, and production optimization opportunities in the Sub-Saharan African countries. Prior to joining D&M, Rosa served as Country Manager and Senior Executive O&G Business Advisor for MSI-International, providing technical support, delivering projects, proposals, and business strategies, and carrying out consultancy projects for different clients in West Africa.
Rosa started his professional career at Sonangol E.P, the national oil and gas concessionaire and former regulator in Angola, where he worked for more than 15 years. At Sonangol E.P., Rosa was a senior reservoir engineer and team leader for non-operated assets. Rosa also served as the team leader for Sonangol E.P.’s reserves and resources technical team, coordinating the annual booking of reserves with external consulting companies. From 2009 to 2011, Rosa was seconded to Chevron as a reservoir engineer for the Mafumeira Sul and Kambala green-field development projects, and in 2012 he served as deputy project manager for the N’Tene brown-field integrated joint development project between Chevron and Sonangol E.P. Due to his background and expertise, Rosa participated in several subsurface peer reviews for green- and brown-field development activities offshore Angola.
