Charis K. Mungal
Associate Geologist
Charis K. Mungal joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2024 as an Associate Geologist. She previously worked in Trinidad for the country’s ministry of energy and for private oil- and gas-producing operators. Mungal has experience in reserves coordination, oil and gas data management, and mature field development.
In 2017, Mungal received a bachelor’s degree in petroleum geoscience from the University of the West Indies, and later earned a master’s degree in petroleum engineering and management from the same university. She is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, where she has served as the Vice President of Trinidad and Tobago’s Student Chapter (2015–2016) and Young Professionals Chapter (2019–2021).

Major Projects
Prior to joining D&M, Mungal coordinated the oil and gas reserves evaluation process for an oil-producing company in Trinidad. She also assisted with the corporate consolidation of finalized reserves and with the preparation of the company’s annual disclosure of reserves for a private operator in Trinidad. She also has experience with oil and gas data management and the integration of subsurface datasets.
At D&M, Mungal’s work includes performing deterministic oil and gas volume estimation, evaluating reserves using the guidelines of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and in accordance with the Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) for conventional reservoirs, and digitizing maps and well-log data.
