Naga K. Potluri joined DeGolyer and MacNaughton in 2006 as a specialist in reservoir simulation. He works as a lead engineer on integrated field development studies worldwide, performing engineering analysis using classic reservoir engineering methods and reservoir simulation to evaluate oil and gas field performance. Prior to joining D&M, he worked as a reservoir engineer for Seismic Microtechnology in Houston, Texas. He is division manager of the Central Europe/Asia Division.

Potluri received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 2001 from the National Institute of Technology in Trichy, India. In 2004, he was awarded a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas. He was elected a Vice President at D&M in 2010, Senior Vice President in 2022 and Executive Vice President in 2023.

Major Projects

In North Africa, he constructed multimillion-cell geocellular and reservoir simulation models for use in field development planning for large gas-condensate fields. He evaluated the timing to blow down the field and improving the gas cycling efficiency to increase liquid recovery. He was also involved as lead engineer for various miscible flood and chemical EOR evaluations of oil reservoirs in the same geographical area.

In Western Siberia, he developed full-field geologic and simulation models for a complex reservoir to evaluate potential hydrocarbon recoveries and future development strategies.

In South America, Potluri worked on a project to simulate a heavy oil reservoir in the Orinoco belt in Venezuela and assisted in providing reserves estimates for the same. As a lead engineer for an integrated study of an oil field in Colombia, he assisted a client in estimating the potential benefits of implementing secondary recovery processes and evaluating the optimum waterflood development patterns needed for such field.

More recently, Potluri was involved as a project leader in equity determination of a gas field in India. Potluri has completed several reserves estimation projects under SEC and PRMS guidelines for fields in China, India, Nigeria, Ghana, and Kazakhstan.
